The Annual Cocktail Party is Right to Dream’s largest fundraiser of the year, and the Academy and students need your support!
Prior fundraisers allowed us to achieve our goals of completing construction on the new academy in Ghana and raising seed money for the girls’ program. Monies raised at this year’s event will continue to maintain and grow the girls’ program, now involving 16 girls at the Academy in Ghana and support the first three female graduates of Right to Dream as they transition to US boarding schools, and continue to champion the organization’s high school boys and college men.
We hope you will join us, as every young person deserves the Right to Dream.
Located in Ghana, Africa, Right to Dream is a school and soccer academy offering boys and girls from backgrounds of extreme poverty the opportunity to reach their true potential through sport and education. Candidates are given full scholarships to live, train and study at the academy, and enrollment is now in excess of 90 students. Many graduates go on to win scholarships at leading international private schools, colleges and universities, while others go on to pursue playing soccer professionally.
In 2010, Right to Dream held its first fundraiser in NYC. Proceeds helped build the new Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, a fully residential international school that offers five-year scholarships to children 11 and older. The academics together with soccer and an explicit character-development program, allow students to thrive and to reach their fullest potential. Right to Dream continued to fundraise and in 2012 they were able to provide seed money to start a girls’ program – the first residential football and academic program for girls in Africa. There are currently 16 West African girls, from age 10 to 15, on full scholarships at the Academy.
Last year’s fundraiser continued to support and grow both the girls’ and boys’ programs. It raised vital funds that allowed Academy students to come to the US to study and play soccer at distinguished high schools and universities.
Right to Dream partner high schools in the US include: The Hotchkiss School, Millbrook School, Kent School, Salisbury School, South Kent School, Taft School, and Canterbury School; colleges and universities include Bates College, Boston College, Bucknell University, Connecticut College, Fordham University, Georgetown University, Hobart College, Marquette University, Michigan, UC Irvine, UCSB, University of Virginia, Villanova University, Wake Forest, and Williams College.
On June 7 the fourth annual Cocktail Party Benefit will take place at 399 Park Avenue in Manhattan. Proceeds will continue to provide education, athletics and opportunities to Right to Dream students, with an emphasis on the girls’ program.
